I just finished reading an excellent article over at Kaourantin.net. Tinic wrote a brilliant article detailing what GPU processing in Flash Player 10 will mean to us. He obviously can explain it a lot better than I can as he is an engineer on the Flash Player team at Adobe.
Flash traditionally has [...]
Ugur started a very good discussion on his blog about current obstacles and bugs in Flash Lite 3 implementation, and how they are effecting developers.
I’d like to continue the discussion by posting my thoughts here.
Flash Lite 3.0 and 3.1
Ugur already discussed the current issues with Flash Lite 3 with Security Sandbox (or as Ugur named [...]
The release of RIALogger v1.5 for AIR 1.0 was not very stable and was in between a transition period. I originally thought I would get around to update it quicker. Well I finally updated to be more stable and better performance when viewing large amounts of data. A new UI update will [...]
The WaSP Education Task Force (EduTF) report updates our activity, announces new members, and offers a report on a Web standards based Curriculum Project.
As stated in my earlier post, I have got myself a Mac recently. There was no real reason for me to do so, but I just wanted to go ahead and try it and I had also heard some good things about it from a few people, so I thought lets get one then! Before [...]
I recently posted an example of a â??Live Help / Call Centerâ? application built with Flex and BlazeDS. A number of you have asked me for the source code. So here it is…
Installation instructions
Install BlazeDS or LCDS.
Download the client-side of the application. The end-user application is mortgageapp.mxml, and the support representative application is callcenter.mxml.

I've been considering this one for a while, but because of Scotch on the Rocks, moving house and planning a wedding - well, Leanne has been planning and I'm just nodding in agreement - it's sort of slipped off the radar.
The plan quite simply ...
The final release of FeedDemon 2.7 (which was called FeedDemon 2.6.1 during the beta period) is now availableAs you can see from the release notes, there aren't many big new features in this version - unless, of course, you count speed as a feature :) The most significant change in version 2.7 is that it's much faster in many areas, including critical ones like synchronization and navigation. Download FeedDemon 2.7 (3.93MB) Note: If you have a previous 2.x version of FeedDemon
Looks like the Flash 10 player news is spreading like wild fire! Go Astro Go!. If you want to follow the news and compile some examples for yourself I suggest following some links my friend Josh Spoon has posted on where to start your flash 10 experiments! It looks like a ton of people have [...]
I like email. It has so many advantages: The asynchronous nature means I can respond when I have time and you can do the same. I don't have to face you, so its easier to relate unpleasantries. I can take as much time to carefully craft my words as I need. I can say just the right thing . The list could get longer.
A lot of us really like computers more than we like people. We prefer IM or IRC to picking up the phone, and we prefer email over face-to-face conversation. Be honest, you'd rather b

Yesterday at Flex Camp Toronto 2 I presented a session about how to promote your Flex and AIR applications. It includes tips on submitting applications to the Flex Showcase and to blogs like this, submitting content to the developer center, and official Adobe programs for helping you promote your applications. The slides may also be useful if you're interested in keeping track of the latest Flex and AIR applications as well.
I'll be giving a similar presentation at 360 Flex in San Jose if you'
Okay, so since the last time I managed to blog, I had an excellent time presenting 'Dense and Hot' in Milan Italy for 360 Flex. It was a great time with a great bunch of presenters. I am looking forward to what Tom and John manage to do with their next conference. Cheers Guys.
I presented at a few events for Adobe and BEA, Flex Camp Wall Street, the Boston Flex Incubator group and the new Chicago Flex User Group. This week I am out in San Jose for the Adobe Community Summit and learni
The eLearning DevCon 2008 conference is coming up in Salt Lake City in July and there are several great pre-conference training planned from beginning Flash and Actionscripting to advanced Adobe Captivate. You will also find many sessions that cover different topics around Adobe Captivate. This event might be a good way to quickly get you up and running with the tools.

I've mentioned before that I <3 ColdBox and that I <3 jQuery. Independently of one another, they are just a pleasure to work with. Today I decided to write my first-ever jQuery-powered AJAX functionality inside a ColdBox-powered application. It's ridiculously simple to do - one might even say sinful. So easy in fact, that I decided to post a quick "tutorial" on how to handle a pretty common task with ColdBox and jQuery.

Okay, so I said that I would try and post about the various cf.Objective() sessions. Key word: try. As you've probably figured out, I didn't manage to do so. However, this year I did make it to all the morning sessions that I intended to make it to, which certainly was not the case last year. No, not hung over. I'm nocturnal by nature, and I'm usually in bed asleep in the morning hours, so making it to the morning sessions is a helluva chore.

One of the most popular posts on my blog adamflater.net has been Static Code Blocks!. Due to the amount of requests for that post I thought it made for a good topic to feature on InsideRIA regarding ActionScript and static code.
First off, what is static code? Static code is executable code that is said to belong to a Class. An instance method of an Object exists N times for the N instances of the Class type of Object, but static code exists only once no matter how many instances of the Objec
Ever wanted to create your own isometric pixel picture, but didn’t know what the word isometric meant? Well, now you can fulfil your wildest dreams with Cubescape!
That is the headline for Cubescape, a site that released a new jQuery based front end that lets you drop the cubes!

Just when you thought that datepickers had been played out, along comes Filament Group and puts a whole new spin on it. Working from Mark Grabanski’s jQuery UI DatePicker control, the team substantially enhanced the UI with a host of new features including:
shortcut links to preset date ranges, for example, “Past 30 days” or “Current [...]
